Forest fires, especially along the railroads where spark-spitting steam locomotives were a hazard, were a danger in heavily-wooded Finland. The State Railway maintained several trains equipped to battle track-side fires. One was based at Haapamaki, where 0-6-2T No. 955 powered it in the yard on September 16, 1974.
